Rise and shine!
Maybe the last thing you remember is back home, whatever "home" is for you. Or maybe it was in a world between worlds, as you left to go home. Either way, when you open your eyes, you're no longer in either of the above. Whoa... talk about déjà vu. Haven't you been through this whole "wake up in a mysterious place" song and dance before? (For those of you who don't have potential memory problems, that is.)
And just like last time, you're not alone. Dozens of other (live) bodies are scattered around you, coming to their senses just as you are. Hey, some of them might even be familiar to you...
Where are we?
( Image )
GENERAL
You're in a spacious but dingy windowless room with metal sheet walls, dull concrete floors, and paneled ceilings with visible vents and piping that appears to go nowhere at all. It’s quiet enough that footsteps and voices echo, and the only light comes from the fluorescent lighting hanging from the ceiling. The ceiling panels drip a little, leaving suspicious murky puddles of water pooling on the ground. On the wall are spray painted construction marks and certain parts of the room are covered with dusty tarps.
While this is an open room with a lot of empty space, a part of it taken up by the enormous statue that seems to be being stored here, partially covered in dusty tarps, right in the middle of the place. It is of a blue horse in mid-gallop, and the horse’s head and prancing hooves reach all the way to the tall ceilings. It has an evil energy.
...Well, at least there are rows of connected chairs with peeling leather set up throughout the room for your comfort. There are a few vending machines around. They aren’t exactly working, but if you shake them a drink or a snack may fall out.
Towards the south end of the place is a customer service desk! While the room is currently unmanned, there is a phone available for you to dial the customer service hotline. You’re going to be on hold for a long time, but the hold music is surprisingly catchy and occasionally a recorded voice tells you that your call is very important and a customer service representative will be assisting you shortly.
BAGGAGE CLAIM
In the center-ish of the space is a simple baggage claim. The belt moves rather erratically and in random bursts, sometimes forwards, sometimes backwards. Every so often, you can see luggage jostling by on it. One of them is yours—it has your name on it! Gods know when it's finally going to come by, but once you get a hold on it, it contains: two items familiar to you (one from your world, another from your last rodeo), a phone, a passport, and lastly, a coupon labeled "CONGRATULATIONS: BUY ONE GET ONE FREE."
Should you turn on the phone, you'll find that you have no signal, making the camera, flashlight, passport directory, and memo app the only working functions of value. Yes, that's right, there's a digital copy of everyone's passport for you to flip through on your phone. Nosey. However, the device does have one notification, already saved.

BATHROOMS & SHOWERS
You were wondering, weren't you? A fluorescent bathroom sign hangs in one dim back corner. Inside are rows of metal-doored toilet stalls, two long rows of sinks, and an enormous mirror. The mirror has some cracks in it. It's pretty much as bare bones as it comes. On the wall near the exit is a touch panel. The screen reads How do you like our bathrooms? and then shows several smiley faces: 🥳🥹🤔😵‍💫🤡. You can share your enjoyment of this bathroom by selecting one of these smiley faces.
All the way on the other end of the dinky space are two coin-operated showers. You don’t have coins, but that's okay. The mechanism is broken, so the showers will turn on with cold water for a minute at a time and abruptly shut off.
RUNDOWN
  • Characters initially awaken only with the clothes on their back.
  • Characters can receive their home & game items, alongside with other offered amenities listed above, via the baggage claim.
  • At the moment, any attempt to send text messages will not go through, and the network cannot be accessed due to lack of signal. The only working functions on the phone are the camera, flashlight, passport directory, and memo app.
  • Profiles are currently active on the phone via passport directory.
  • Multiple areas are blocked off and cannot be broken through (marked in red).
  • If you are making any notable changes to the locations, please tell us in your mod DM for now!
  • There will be A Thing coming up on Saturday @ 4pm PST/7pm EST! OOCly, it will go on for the rest of the weekend, so you do not need to be here immediately.
sixam: (Why believe it?)

They're not really my secrets to keep, you know? I just figure... if they're both here, and they're both not even totally aware of the problems or how to deal with them, it's not helping them for me to go around announcing them. That's all.

But thanks. I hope so, too.

[ she mimes zipping her lips at that part. ] I know a thing or seventeen thousand seven hundred and eighty four about confidentiality, don’t worry.

[ that’s a lot. ]
sixam: (Everybody wants to rule the world)

[personal profile] sixam 2025-05-31 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ... that gets him to crack a grin. ]

That an actual number, or an example?
ballies: (063)

[personal profile] ballies 2025-05-31 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll neither confirm nor deny.
sixam: (Everybody wants 2 rule the world)

[personal profile] sixam 2025-05-31 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Smart woman. [ funny. ] Guess we all have to keep some secrets to ourselves.
ballies: (124)

[personal profile] ballies 2025-05-31 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[ hehe. ]

Start a secret trade or something. Permission withstanding.

Besides, places like this always have secrets. It's not bad to have information sharing, is it? [ she says to god who hid in a bar for like seven weeks. ]
sixam: (There's no turning back)

[personal profile] sixam 2025-05-31 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
A little tit for tat, you mean? I don't think it's a bad way to barter among strangers. [ he finds it a little interesting, but of course he does. he's god who hid in a bar for like seven weeks. ]

Guess it also depends if you want information shared, or if that information helps once it's out there. But overall? No, I don't think it's that bad.
ballies: (115)

[personal profile] ballies 2025-05-31 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly.

[ she spins her finger in a little loop. ]

And if it's a proper kind of information sharing deal, there's confidentiality. And if it's information that needs to get out there as soon as possible, there's two of you doing the ground work.
sixam: (Nothing ever lasts forever)

[personal profile] sixam 2025-05-31 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[ watches the fingie do a loop-de-loop... ]

Building trust working in sync with building a team. [ because to share secrets, you have to trust someone, and when you trust someone you're more likely to work with them to get other information out there and share amongst the people. ]

Sounds like you've got some experience with this kind of thing.

[ wheee. ]

Well. I have a partner-in-proverbial-crime, so I'm used to working as a team. [ hmmm. ] But, the place I was before here had teams.

Not sure how much of it was about getting along, depending on who you ask, but I think my team got on pretty well.
sixam: (You already know me)

[personal profile] sixam 2025-05-31 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
That'd do it. [ there's a little smile, slightly interested and slightly nostalgic because sometimes you remember when you used to have a partner in crime yourself. but he's more interested in the other piece of what she says. ]

I've heard from a few people about origin games that had teams. Are any of your old teammates here?
ballies: (089)

[personal profile] ballies 2025-05-31 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[ the way this thread is right after her one with ace. ]

Yup. Ace.

[ uh. ]

Shirtless guy with the hat?
sixam: (You kinda scare me)

[personal profile] sixam 2025-05-31 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[ that description helps. ]

We've met. Which means you were from the hero game. In, uh, Oceanside? I think that's what he said. [ but oh. ] ... kinda nice you have one of your own teammates with you.
ballies: (082)

[personal profile] ballies 2025-05-31 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[ sighs. ]

Yeah, that's the one. With the cycles and the moon, all that stuff. And... yeah, it's nice to know someone, but I'm not exactly excited he's probably going through another one of these...
sixam: (Don't hold back)

[personal profile] sixam 2025-05-31 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[ he makes a face. ]

One of your other guys mentioned a little about the moon, too. And Ace filled me in. Sounds pretty rough. [ ...but his expression skews a little more sympathetic because he gets that. ]

I get it though. I can't say I'm all that excited for the people I know to go through another one of these, too. Especially when we don't know what it'll be this time. They already went through enough.
ballies: (077)

[personal profile] ballies 2025-05-31 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
The moon was a pain in the ass and I'm glad he got his ass kicked.

[ dead serious. and then she sighs. ]

Did you get a "happy ending" [ she does finger quotes for real ] at the end of it all>
sixam: (Feeling safe)

[personal profile] sixam 2025-05-31 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a lot of questions, like how you kick a moon's ass and why it was a guy, but all of that can wait until later I guess.

[ but... there's a little half-smile. ]

Everyone came back and got to leave at the end if that's what you mean, yeah. Not that I'm happy with everything that happened before that, but we did what we could.
ballies: (099)

[personal profile] ballies 2025-05-31 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes it turns into a person and THEN you beat it up.

[ sparknotes edition. ]

... That's good at least. But there's never really a guarantee it's going to work out that way, is there?
sixam: (A winding road where strangers meet)

[personal profile] sixam 2025-05-31 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. [ okay. well. ] Weird...

[ but what does he know? she makes a good point though, and he frowns softly to that. ]

There's never really a guarantee, you're right. But it's why you do everything you can to try and better the odds anyway. We're probably going to have to do the same here, too, aren't we?
ballies: (149)

[personal profile] ballies 2025-05-31 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Allllllllllllllllmost definitely.
sixam: (Guess I'm giving up again this time)

[personal profile] sixam 2025-05-31 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[ siiiiiiiigh. ]

Great. [ great! he's just. feeling a way about that. ] ... it's fine, I'll figure something out.
ballies: (067)

[personal profile] ballies 2025-05-31 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
There's like forty of us and we've all got experience. Make it a team job. [ or else. ]
sixam: (Had me feeling like a ghost)

[personal profile] sixam 2025-05-31 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
And would you leave the fate of people you care about directly in the hands of strangers?
ballies: (002)

[personal profile] ballies 2025-05-31 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I kinda had to, actually. We were on different teams last time.
