In the morning at 11:30am sharp, you hear the intercom speakers blare loudly across the entire airport, perfectly audible no matter where you are.

All passengers, please report to Terminal 0 Gate Area effective immediately. All passengers, please report to Terminal 0 Gate Area effective immediately...

...But that's so far...! Groan. Still—even if you try your best to resist, you'll find your body moving against your will and taking you all the way over there anyway. After what feels like forever of walking, you'll arrive to the gate and see that a few things are different. Most of you probably had a feeling this is what you should expect, right?

The gate has been refurnished a little bit for the proceedings today. The metal gates will not let anyone out of the Gate Area without permission, but at least there's some snacks set out, and Allstars Coffee is still open in case you need a coffee break. Your Hosts await you near the front behind the counters, carrying various, but all expectant attitudes. After all, we knew this was coming.

Welcome to trial! Over the course of the next nine hours, characters will need to discuss the circumstances, investigate relevant locations, and put together theories about the truth behind this week's murders!

Trial will last from 9am PST/12pm EST until 6pm PST/9pm PST. There will be an hour-long break starting 1pm PST/4pm EST; while players are free to continue tagging during this time, it is intended to allow players to take a minute to eat, rest, what have you.

Lastly, voting is mandatory. Please be absolutely sure to get your IC vote in before the end of trial, or there are severe IC consequences!

DM the mods if you intend to use a curse during trial. Curse duration may be altered or subject entirely to mod approval depending on how many curses are in play. Curse duration must end before break.

[well if we're starting outside Rosamund will scan the immediate area outside the door, in particular the floor. She is a ranger and has tracking skills so she would have a keen eye for footprints and other tracks, but will be looking for blood, debris, dirt or grass or other suspicious stains or scuffs. What are we looking at?]

[ but no, maya will look up at the ceiling and screens and generally give the hallways a onceover in every direction as they walk ]

[ Great news! You can immediately see blood!

It's a drip trail that leads from the right side of the map to the Sim Room. You cannot see any distinct footprints in it but if you squint as a tracker, you get the sense it may be two trails based on the blood drip pattern.

Maya looks everywhere... and finds... odd scuff marks on the walls? ]

[Okay no real tag. Rosamund will take note of this, bending down to more closely examine the two trails of blood. Does one look older than the other? How heavy are the drips in each?]

[ maya takes pictures of everything with her phone and also takes a picture of rosamund looking very cool and doing her thing ]

[ maya looks at the scuff marks. how many are they? how big are they? do they look fist-shaped or sized? anything else unusual about them? ]

[ They look to both be about the same level of freshness and colour, the only reason you can tell they're different is that the drip patterns seem to overlap in a way that you, with your hunting eyes, can suspect they may be from more than one source.

The number is a (mumbles) amount of scuffs. You might argue they're fist-sized, ish? How closely are you looking at some random ass scuffs on the wall and/or are you taking pics with flash? ]

[aaah good to know. As in multiple sources on the same body, roughly, or could this feasibly be a second pursuer bleeding on the exact same path as the first person, who was also bleeding?

Rosamund doesn't know splatter analysis exists so unless these blood drips look especially strange or might indicate what caused them, she will not take photos. There's nothing in the blood otherwise, correct? Nothing else on the floor around the hall or in front of the Sim Room?

Failing that she will take a closer look at the door itself. Also looks to Maya when she catches her snapping pics]

[ maya will also take pictures of the blood splatters for further analysis.... but yes, she is using flash (sorry, rosamund), but she is also comparing her own fist to the scuff marks and examining them closely. to rosie: ]

[ For Rosamund, I think the q of whether same source or different is a bit hard to discern.

Looking around this area though, she can find a few black feathers dropped here and there too. Just a few! No crows were harmed in the making of this murder, as far as you know.

When Maya takes pictures of the scuffs, she'll notice they glint a bit brightly with the flash, especially a darker... scuff? A bit further away? It doesn't seem to be a scuff, exactly. Some kind of tiny hole/crack in the wall. ]

Aw Maya, you're the cool one! Well then, it's only fair I have a few of you. But quickly, we've got a lot of work ahead of us.

I will leave bloodvidence alone for now but she will pick up the black feathers. Take a wee sniff. I imagine these will be saved for evidence checks but are they damaged in any way?]

I think these might be from Anders' big fancy coat.

You're probably right.... there's something weird with the walls, too.

[ she uses the flashlight on her phone to look at them closer... especially that tiny crack/hole in the wall. ]

As for Maya, if she squints at the scuffs, she notices... a bit of pink sparkle to them. As for the crack hole thing, upon closer inspection she'll find... that it's a bullet lodged into the wall! ]

Assuming that she's done with the floor, she will take another look around. Have they missed anything? Door/walls/floors/ceilings?]

Anyway you walk in and... wow you still have your legs. Amazing considering that the simulation room is on when you walk in.

The displayed scenery looks like this. It’s a cozy home -- big, but in a way that means a lot of people live there, coming in and out all through the day -- and the walls are covered in plants and nature, offering an atmosphere of peace and quiet, despite the busy sounds of the Lower City just outside the windows.

The blood trail heads laboriously upstairs. There is the occasional black feather here and there -- by the doorway, on a stair step. ]

Collecting the feathers as she moves in, following the blood trail and taking note of any differences in it as she goes. She'll also look side to side as she approaches the stairs. Anything of note around the place that isn't just blood and feathers?]

[ Nothing wrong with it! It's a cosy home, to someone. Was.

Nothing wrong with it except the blood leading up the stairs to the second floor. It leads to a room. Someone’s cast-off jewelry for the day has been left scattered over a side-table crowded with potion ingredients and bandages and messily scrawled notes with doodles of tigers eating men in heavy armor spurting blood and going auuuuugh. There’s a black coat with feathers at the shoulders on a hook behind the door and a well-worn staff leaning against the wall.

A lyre is leaned in a chair in the corner, which is shoved next to a little perch under the window that’s covered in orange cat hair. The place would smell medicinal, if it weren’t so heavily covered by the smell of blood. All of this also looks half-transparent and flickery. Or most of this, anyway.

By the bed on the floor, there's a very large pool of red. ]

[oh dear. Rosamund will take this jewellery into her evidence pockets, while checking over the potions and bandages and notes. This may just be flavour dressing but just in case she will look through these belongings carefully. Are they damaged or dirtied in a significant way? Any clues on these lovingly drawn dead templar pictures?

She'll also look at the coat and staff at the door. Just simulated replicas? Or do either of them bear signs of being used by real fighting for his life anders?]

[ Rosamund tries to swipe jewelery... and can't! Her hand goes right through them. Oops. Looks like these are simulated too.

The notebooks are probably full of more templars going aughh ahhhhh earghhhhhh and full of MLM fanfiction with women who pass the Bechdel Test because Anders is woke as hell. No idk they're there, but the templar part minimum is probably true?

The blood trail obviously leads from the door to the blool, with some amount of drag-like marks. It's right next to the edge of the bed. ]
